Chemical peeling, or chemical exfoliation, is an accelerated exfoliation induced by chemical agents that cause a controlled damage resulting in thickening and strengthening of the epidermis, the deposition of healthy collagen and therefore increases the dermal volume. The result is an improved appearance of the skin, with fewer signs of ageing.
They are also used to balance sebum, improve the appearance of scarring and for pigmentation issues.
The best part of using chemical peels is that they function by taking advantage of a natural biological process that is constantly at work in our skin, desquamation. What to avoid before treatment
2 weeks before:
- Electrolysis
- Waxing
- Depilatory Creams
- Laser hair removal
1 week before treatment:
- AHA/BHA/Benzyl peroxide (unless otherwise directed by your practitioner)
- Any exfoliating products that may be drying or irritating
24 hours before treatment:
- Avoid alcohol on the DAY of treatment
- Cleanse, tone and moisturise your skin as usual in the morning before your treatment.
- Arrive with no make-up.
